It's become more of a hassle & slowing things down. iPhoto was later replaced by new Photos app released as a bundled app to OS X Yosemite V10.10.3 update on April 8, 2015.

Existing users running Mavericks then can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store. I kept older illustrations & past projects in iPhotos before updating to Sierra from Mavericks, and recently had trouble finding some things which I know to be in my iPhoto/Photos library. So every Mac purchased after Octoare eligible for a free iPhoto application along with iLife application suite. I have never had any objection to dragging an image from iPhoto onto any of my graphics apps for adjustments in the past, so the extensions aren't game changers to me. Extensions are fine for quick things I guess. I just want iPhotos functionality that works well (as it used to do) on my iMac. I'm not interested in Cloud library because I don't have an iPhone or multiple Apple devices which need to sync together various libraries. Will iPhotos work in that or strictly HS? I haven't updated to High Sierra & won't for a while, I'm using Sierra. Now, delete the Photos Library as usually to prevent it from creating multiple files. Open Photos Library and make sure there is nothing inside. You’ll see Photos Library and iPhoto Library. Click on Finder and Go to your Pictures folder. With Photos I only see a few, and scrolling down, the images get smaller & are arranged in some cutesy compositions. I have tons which have been face tagged with his name. For example, I use Faces or whatever it may be called in Photos to search out all the ones of my brother.
